In our world of stress and multitasking, it is easy to forget some details in our everyday life...

How can we discern “I forgot where I put my keys” from real cognitive deficit?

How can we reverse the trajectory of cognitive decline over time?

Over the last decade, research has shown that using lifestyle strategies can be even more neuroprotective than pharmaceuticals to enhance brain health and function. Research has now contributed a vast body of evidence in understanding that connection between lifestyle factors, including exercise, sleep, food, environment and social support act as moderators between Alzheimer’s pathology and enhanced cognition. Understanding the role of lifestyle offers exciting new insights and choices that are crucial to maintaining brain health and quality of life as we age.

As Integrative Nurse Coaches, we have a unique role in optimizing the health and wellbeing of our patients, families, and communities across the life cycle. We are perfectly positioned as nurse educators, community advocates, and integrative nurse coaches, to impact the health and wellbeing of all individuals.
This Advanced program opens new possibilities for implementing research based-lifestyle behavioral strategies for optimizing brain health for ourselves and in our work with diverse populations.

    • Review the connection between lifestyle behaviors, healthy aging, and brain health.
    • Examine current research on the impact of sleep, exercise, nutrition, environment, and stress on the brain.
    • Learn to implement new lifestyle behaviors to optimize healthy aging.
    • Identify exogenous compounds implicated in neurodegenerative conditions.
    • Understand the interaction between epigenetics, nutrients and environmental toxins.
    • Describe the influence of food and food compounds in detoxification pathways.
    • Explore specific food plans for healthy aging and a healthy brain.
    • Experience coaching strategies in supporting patients and their care team.
    • Learn movement strategies including physical activity, yoga, and relaxation practices to enhance neuroplasticity.
    • Develop innovative community models including Group Coaching for optimizing health and wellbeing
